OK, so we’ve known for a while now that DORO mobile phones are one of the market leaders in phones for the Over 65s. We’ve tried a few out, in the past, including the DORO 780X.
Perfect For Older Phone Users
For me, one of DORO handsets’ best features is the extremely clear and loud sound. Like many of my contemporaries, my hearing has deteriorated considerably over the past few years. I use my current mobile on maximum volume pretty much all of the time, and clear, loud sound is paramount for me.
If you’re buying a new mobile for an elderly parent then it’s reassuring to know that the DOROs all have a DORO Assistance button. That extra peace of mind is worth a lot.
We love that all the phones are also compatible with Response by Doro. This is a feature that supplies pre-selected users with a GPS location of the person using the handset in case of an emergency. To activate this, all the phone-owner needs to do is press the Response button on the back of the phone.

The DORO 6880
We’ve been using the DORO 6880 over the last week or so. It’s a lovely, little retro-style clamshell phone which is both elegant and easy-to-use. A streamlined handset, both intuitive and ergonomic, the DORO 6880 offers enhanced sound, Hearing Aid Compatibility and easy to navigate menus. Even my 86 year old Mum found it easy to use! She liked the fact that the keys were large, well separated and easy to see.
The DORO 1880
The DORO 1880 is another handset we’ve put to the test recently. It’s a dead easy to use 4G mobile, with a wide display. The widely-spaced keys make it a breeze when it comes to calling and texting. It’s got an integrated torch and a nippy little camera which my Mum managed to use without too much prompting. The battery seemed to last for ages and she particularly liked the Response by DORO Assistance button.
