Wisdom, the world’s largest social audio-powered mentorship platform, today announces the addition of the ‘Meet’ tab to make it even easier for people to discover, connect and listen to interesting minds in its community. This new feature release follows Wisdom’s recent nomination as App of the Day on the Apple App Store.
Now, users are able to add a short voice note introduction to their Wisdom user profile. On the Meet tab, Wisdom’s algorithms will recommend each user with a daily batch of 15-20 voice intros from people that may be of interest for them to meet. Users can scroll through and playback the voice intros, then follow members that sound appealing. Additionally, Wisdom’s new Direct Messaging (DM) feature means that after following, users can now have one-to-one private chats.
A Huge Community
These new features mark Wisdom’s entry into the world of social discovery, a sector that is estimated to be twice the size of the online dating market, according to a recent Match Group earnings call. The app aims to use asynchronous audio to facilitate natural and relevant introductions between members within the Wisdom community to help build more impactful connections.

Dayo Akinrinade, founder and CEO of Wisdom comments. “We have worked hard to make sure that it is a welcoming, open space for people to have meaningful conversations. The new Meet feature is a simple yet powerful function to help users find the right people to connect with. They can exchange ideas and have conversations that matter. I am excited for our Wisdom community to benefit from the new social discovery experience through both live audio and now also asynchronous audio.”
The New Features In Wisdom
This update follows a series of new features such as ‘Claim Your Podcast’, ‘Suggested Follows’ and ‘Audience Reactions’ . These were released to improve user experience, boost audience engagement levels and deliver more value for the Wisdom community. Wisdom is a leading social audio app founded by female tech founder, Dayo Akinrinade in 2021. The intention was to democratise access to mentorship. It replaces the inequity of closed networks and “warm intros” with an open, diverse community centred on knowledge-sharing. Wisdom was built from ground up to bring a level of intimacy and interaction not seen in this way before. It was also recently featured as App of the Day in the Apple App Store. Apple said “Logging into Wisdom is like showing up at a party powered by conversations between thought leaders and big thinkers.”

Inspired by TikTok, Wisdom utilises an algorithm-friendly design powered by a deep-learning neural network. The algorithms continually gather data including how a user interacts and reacts to a talk. Audio and text transformer models then extract the topics being discussed and the sentiment.
Since its launch in October 2021, Wisdom mentors have shared over 609,000 minutes of insights and guidance. Listeners have absorbed more than 7.4 million minutes worth of knowledge.
Popular With The Over 50s
Although Wisdom has a wide age range of users, there has been increasing senior representation. Almost 1 in 5 users are aged 50 and over. The inability to have meaningful conversations and interactions can lead to loneliness. It’s a common issue exacerbated by age as socialising becomes more difficult. According to Age UK, even before the pandemic, around 1.4 million people aged fifty and over in England were often lonely. This is a number that’s projected to increase to around 2 million people by 2026.
A recent survey of Wisdom users have found that those in the 50 and over age category have valued the 1-on-1 connections they have made through the app. The latest update will offer more ways for social discovery within the community.
“I am a newly retired person I’ve only been retired about 6 months and was getting somewhat depressed because I’m used to physical activity and being able to talk to people and friends and workers. I was notified months and months ago about this station coming to life and they asked me to be a mentor.. Right then and there it brought a smile to my face. ( Which I haven’t felt for awhile) I’m like wow that felt wonderful let’s try to continue this journey . So as I of may 29th I have done 24 shows thus so far It really beats talking to myself.” – Scott Lee Twilligear, Wisdom User
“As I am 59 and letting go, the Wisdom app has given me the opportunity to talk through the things that have held me back for so many years. I am getting free from the things had me bound and taking my audience with me. It is very liberating!” – Deirdre Parker, Wisdom User
