Skin & Tonic London Calm Clean
This new organic cleanser from Boostology.co.uk is simply gorgeous. The nourishing cream melts into your skin when used with the hot cloth and smells so good. My face felt completely cleansed not just a perfunctory ‘wet-wipes’ type clean! The lavender and chamomile oils calm the skin too. Perfect for those of us with sensitive skin. Boostology have a lovely range of organic, vegan and plastic-free gifts, and even better they plant a tree every time you place an order. Even the packaging is eco-friendly. Win, win!
HADA LABO TOKYO Moisturising Cream
This moisturiser is unbelievably light and fluffy and absorbs easily into my skin. I can put make-up on almost immediately after and you can’t say that about many good moisturisers! It keeps my face moisturised all day too. I use it at night as well, because as I’ve said before, I find night creams too rich for my skin. The Super Hyaloronic Acid smooths my skin and leaves it feeling so soft. I’m hoping it’s going to live up to it’s anti-ageing promise too!
Lucy’s Farm
My oh my, this has to be the cutest mug ever. Apart from the fact that it features Lucy’s Blossom Moo design, this ‘Moo’ mug is made out of fine bone china so is a delight to drink from. The little bee buzzing around the delicate apple blossom is a lovely touch. There are lots of little gems on Lucy’s site and it’s well worth taking a look at.
Skullcandy Jib True Wireless In-Ear
I think Mr. C was a bit jealous of my fab new earbuds (see above) so he’s acquired a new pair too. The Skullcandy ones look a little larger than mine but he reckons they’re pretty much perfect. Really robust and in a dinky but substantial case, the sound is good, deep & bassy but possibly lacks the definition of the top-of-the-range ones on the market. The earbuds look clunkier than some others but fit perfectly in the ear. They’re an absolute steal for under £40 and well worth buying.
Peep Club Instant Relief Eye Spray
Not only am I a contact lens wearer but I also spend a lot of time looking at various screens. So it’s rare that a day passes without me getting sore, irritated eyes. It’s because our eyes get dry as we don’t blink so frequently I believe? And central-heating doesn’t help either! Anyway the Peep Club Dry Eyes Spray is a game-changer. Suffice to say I’ve stocked up on it and all my contact-lens wearing daughters have done exactly the same. Goodbye gritty eyes forever!
Embryolisse Cicalisse Baume
This is a fab all-round repairing skin cream. If your face is feeling tight and dry after a winter’s worth of central-heating, then this skincare balm is perfect for you. It’s unperfumed and melts into the skin without leaving it sticky.
Urbanista London Noise Cancelling Wireless Earbuds
I’ve been using wireless headphones at home for a little while now, but felt that an in-ear alternative would offer some advantages. These Urbanista ‘London’ earphones offer everything some top-of-the-range over-ear headphones offer at a fraction of the price. Firstly, they sound really good, with crisp highs and a full deep bass. They charge wirelessly in their case and controlling them is a breeze with simple ‘touch’ functions on each bud. They have both Active Noise Cancelling to drown out car, train or aeroplane background noise and the Ambient Sound Mode allows you to hear voices without having to turn down the volume. They’re a brilliant little package for an affordable price.
Snuggy
Ok so I know everyone has been living in loungewear since the whole working from home malarkey. Forget bras, forget fitted clothes, comfort is what we all want. Well let me introduce you to my Snuggy. It has to be the snuggliest, softest, comfiest thing I own and I wear mine all the time. Perfect for cosy nights on the sofa with its sherpa fleece interior and available for children and adults. Check out the Snuggy Socks too. I’ve got mine on now and my feet are all warm & toasty.
Look Fabulous Forever
With the strap-line Perfect Makeup for Older Faces , I don’t understand how more women my age don’t know about the amazing Look Fabulous Forever! My eyelids are already a little crepey and the crows-feet come with the territory, but since I’ve started using LFF eyeshadow, eye-prime and mascara, my make-up looks so much better. The eyeshadows are completely matt and there’s no settling into creases and fine lines that I get from all other shadows. The Instant Bright Highlight is my new go-to and is even better than Touche Eclat. But my all-time favourite and Must-Have is the Smooth Like Silk Face Prime. 10 out of 10!

Etnies Shoes
It’s very rare for a man in his 30s to covet a pair of shoes that a man of nearly 60 is wearing. But that is precisely what happened last week when Mr 50 Plus wore his new Etnies out for a walk along the coast near us. Almost-son-in-law Rich was as impressed as Mr C himself with these stylish casual shoe-boots. Apparently Etnies teamed up with Michelin to ensure the soles are about as weather-proof as possible. So not only are these walking shoes comfy but there’s no chance of wet feet when out wearing them. I’m looking at getting myself a pair now so will let you know what I think next time.
CAORUNN Gin
Remember the days when there were barely any gins to choose from – two if you were lucky in your average supermarket? Now there’s a veritable plethora of gins out there, CAORUNN being one of the best ones. The blurb says it’s an “infusion of 5 locally foraged botanicals & 6 traditional’. Personally I think it goes well with a Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic and a couple of thin apple slices. It’s a bit spicy, fresh and very aromatic. Perfect!
