I realise I usually write about my Top Beauty Products and other treat-type bits and bobs. The thing is, sometimes in life, your fave thing of the moment can be the most mundane of items. Hence this month’s Top Picks feature is a tribute to the most ordinary but fundamentally useful of products. And why not!
I know a Flash PowerMop or a new Silentnight Squishy Pillow may not float your boat right now, but take a look below to see, why for me they’re the next best thing to sliced bread!
Silentnight Squishy Pillow

I’ve been using my Silentnight Squishy Pillow for a little while now and boy do I like it. As it turns out, it didn’t suit me to sleep on as it didn’t help my various neck issues. However, last year I damaged my left knee after falling upstairs (!!). After X-Rays and MRIs I was basically told the only thing that was going to make it better longterm was having a new knee. In the meantime I’m managing with knee supports and corticosteroid injections and a pillow between my knees to sleep.
Yup, this amazing squishily-soft and cuddly pillow has been a lifesaver between my knees. The pain in my knees is so bad it wakes me up at night whenever I turn. However if I go to sleep with a soft pillow between my knees I can pretty much guarantee a whole night’s sleep.
If you like a soft, high pillow to sleep on then this supersoft pillow is perfect for you. The case feels like velvet and is a snug fit. I’m fairly sure the pillow would work brilliantly for side sleepers too who like to cuddle their pillow. I was also thinking that next time I go on a long car journey I might take it too for extra comfort.

Pebble Gear Toy Story 4 Tablet

Back at the start of Lockdown, Daughter 1 had a traumatic time giving birth to her new baby 9 weeks early. Mr 50 Plus wrote about our premature grandson here . And in case you’re wondering, no we still haven’t met him yet. It’s absolutely awful but hey at least they’re all well.
Gorgeous little Dylan, baby Harris Finn’s brother is nearly two and we picked up a Pebble Gear Toy Story 4 Tablet for him, thinking it might be a handy ‘distraction’ for him occasionally. I love the fact that there are no ads at all and no in-app purchases either. Mum and Dad have full parental control and the learning games and e-books are fun too. It’s a sturdy piece of kit and well worth the money. Dylan still loves his ‘proper books’ but the tablet is a useful and fun little extra!
Dr Beckmann Cleaning Products

Dr Beckmann laundry and cleaning products have always been on my radar. But since lockdown, I, like many others, have cleaned and decluttered more than at any other point in my life. My washing machine doesn’t niff anymore since I used the Dr Beckmann Service-It Washing Machine Cleaner and I’ll most certainly be buying that again. My Fave Go-To Dr Beckmann product has got to be the Colour & Dirt Collector Sheets though. I can now do a mixed colours wash and relax knowing my colours won’t run and fade. What’s not to love!
Flash Powermop

On a similar cleaning theme, my new Flash Powermop is an absolute Godsend. I’ve ditched my old mop and bucket (Is it just me or does anyone else find them smelly?!) and picked up a fab Flash PowerMop Starter Kit from Wilko. It’s way faster for mopping my hall which is tiled with old Victorian tiles. It also goes over our kitchen parquet like a dream. With my dodgy elbow and shoulder, it makes mopping much easier and cleaner. If the mop feels dry, then all you have to do is squeeze the button and the fresh scented solution soaks the removable mop head again. A simply marvellous mop!

Wild Deodorant

What a brilliant product! Not only is Wild Deodorant natural and containing ‘no nasties’, but it’s also refillable! Great for the environment as well as for us. Mr and Mrs can both use it as it’s a neutral, fresh scent. It’s also aluminium-free so no worries about breast cancer and it’s 100% effective. It comes in a really stylish, contemporary case and looks fab on my bathroom shelf!
