Who Is Helen Adams?
“From a young age, I always knew that I would make some kind of impact. I grew up as an only child of a headmaster and a teacher in a small town, but even in those early years I’d dream of standing on a big stage in front of an audience, or working with people and helping them to move forward. And today, I’m actually fulfilling that dream as the leader of the Female Business Revolution working with midlife female entrepreneurs who want to smash their money blocks and gain financial freedom.
I longed for freedom in those early years. And my parent’s idea of financial freedom was very different from mine. In their eyes, the way to earn good money was to “study hard, get a degree and find a good 9 to 5 job.” Mine was to follow my heart and do the things I loved, even though I was unaware of it then.
I took the traditional route, went to uni, got my degree and then got married. The day my son was born was the happiest day of my life, but then it all turned sour. Eight months after his birth, I discovered his father was cheating on me. Shortly afterwards I found myself devastated and alone. Nonetheless I was determined to carve out a great future for myself and my son.
Lightbulb Moments
I then turned to my second passion, going back to uni at age 29 and qualifying as a teacher. I loved seeing my students have “lightbulb moments”. I learned many skills that I was able to transfer to my future coaching work. My proudest moment came in my final school, where I was director of music. I set up an orchestra from scratch, guiding them to a silver medal in their first competition.
In 2004 I needed a new challenge so I moved to Manchester with my son and became a coach. This was after devouring a copy of “Be Your Own Life Coach,” a book I re-read incessantly. I loved the idea of being able to combine the teaching element with performing and presenting on stage, and signed up four clients straight after qualifying.
Invest In A Coach
When the four contracts ended, I found it difficult to find more work, and the scarcity mindset started to kick in. My childhood belief was that “the only way to earn money was in a ‘proper’ job”. This set off a few years of uncertainty where I experienced “feast and famine” in my business. Even though my family and I hadn’t always seen eye to eye, I was grateful for their love and support. I turned to network marketing to supplement my income with mixed results. Through all of it, I kept hearing that voice telling me that my purpose was to empower women. Finally I realised that in order to fulfil that dream, I would have to invest in a coach.
From that moment, my business turned around. I created a new brand and an eight week programme that was bringing in more clients. I’ve now been a regular speaker in mumpreneur groups and events. I have appeared on “The Strategy and Soul” podcast and became an international best-selling co-author in “The Elevation of the Femalepreneur Vol 2.”
2021 will be an even more exciting year for me, with the launch of a new podcast and book.
Empower Midlife Women
My mission to empower one million women to financial freedom is what drives me to do what I do. You may be familiar with a line in a famous 80s song, “Always believe in your soul.” That has been very much my experience. I believe it’s vital that we, as midlife women, remember that we still have that chance to break free from that conditioning and redefine our own financial futures so we can live life on our own terms and make that impact we were born to make. I base my whole teaching on this and make sure that everyone who works with me is aligned to their mission.”
