Summer Beauty Picks
Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara 4D, £22 nationwide
New oomph for your lashes from Clarins, The new Clarins 4D mascara means va-va voom volume, luscious length, perfect curl and high definition. We’ve tried it and it seems to tick all those boxes. But what’s more, ingredients like rose wax and panthenol help protect and even strengthen your lashes so you hold on to them for longer. And for those who care? It comes in a rather lovely rose gold tube.
Sachajuan Ginger Flower Body Wash, £30, fabled.com
The Stockholm-based brand has branched out. As well as producing its usual excellent haircare, it now offers some luxurious body products.. They come in chunky long-lasting 500 ml bottles – and a little goes a long way, so they’re worth the extra pennies. Both the body wash and lotion are gentle on the skin, contain hydrating beta-glucans and leave a scent of lemony bergamot mixed with a subtle ginger spice.
Payot Blue Techni Liss Skincare Range, from £31.30, www.jerseybeautycompany.co.uk
Thanks to the huge amount of blue light we’re exposed to day and night (from daylight, our computer screens, tablets and phones) our skin doesn’t know what time of day (or night) it is and is losing its biorhythm (its natural process of regenerating itself at night). The result? Tired-looking skin with premature wrinkles. Step in this new range of skincare specially formulated to filter out much of the blue light we’re faced with. It helps to reset the skin’s natural biorhythm, so it can rejuvenate and regenerate. The range includes a day cream, night balm, a plumping serum and smoothing eye gel. All are lovely melt-into-the-skin formulations containing plant extracts and hyaluronic acid. It’s skincare of the future, arrived just in time.
We Love Illamasqua
ILLAMASQUA Nude Collection Unveiled Artistry Palette, £38,illamasqua.com
British beauty brand Illamasqua are known for their innovative style – and we love the fact that even their latest Nude Collection has its own unflinching bravura stamped all over it. There’s nothing hideaway-blend-in–to-the-background about this collection. The powder eyeshadow compact is to lust after. Think finishes in everything from satin matte to matte shimmer and a range of nude shades that contain the boldest of bold pigments – from burgundy and pop-pink to light terracotta and true gold.
KORRES Cucumber Bamboo Shower Gel, £8 & Body Milk, £10, lookfantastic.com
I do look forward to the new, unusual concoctions that natural Greek skincare brand Korres come up with. And they haven’t disappointed me with the new Cucumber Bamboo collection. Delicate, watery and oozing green-scented notes, the shower gel contains wheat proteins to help keep the skin hydrated. The Body Milk contains pampering almond oil and healing aloe vera.
NO7 Laboratories Firming Booster Serum, and Dark Spot Correcting Booster Serum, both £38, Boots.com
It’s always exciting when the No7 Laboratories launch new skincare because of the clinical studies they carry out to ensure the products really work. These two new serums tackle skin concerns most likely to hit post 50 – loss of firmness and wrinkles, plus dark age spots. In tests, skin looked visibly firmer in just one week after using the peptide-packed firming serum. The correcting serum visibly reduced the dark spots in 2 weeks. What’s not to love (and stopping you rushing out to buy some?)
