Maddie, her partner and 6 year old son used Holiday Extras for a hotel and parking, before their Christmas Break in Lapland. Here’s what they thought ……
Courtyard by Marriot London Gatwick
Staying overnight at the Courtyard by Marriot London Gatwick before our early flight to Lapland was definitely a good decision and allowed our holiday to start smoothly and stress free. Knowing we were just a short shuttle bus ride from the North terminal really meant we could relax in the morning without fear of traffic jams/ getting lost/ not being able to park etc, all the little worries that can contribute to making holiday travel stressful!
The check in process on the evening we arrived took a little time. There was a fairly sizeable queue to check our car in, but fortunately the staff tried their best to lessen the tension of the families waiting in the queue by providing orange juice and water. A little thing that made a difference in my opinion! Next time I think we may well book Meet and Greet.
Our room was clean, spacious and just what we needed for a comfortable night sleep. Shame we didn’t get to stay a full night as our alarms forced us up around 4.30am to get moving for the flight!
Shuttle buses were regular and we caught the first one in the morning. It was just a couple of minutes. The only slight annoyance was that cash was needed for the bus, something that could probably be updated now we’re in 2020!
Holiday Extras – A No-Brainer
All in all we enjoyed our short stay. Although it took a while to check the car in, the process was easy and on the way back we picked the car up right away with no fuss or stress. Would definitely stay here again pre- holiday. Not only did it ease any anxieties re travelling for a flight early in the morning but we got the added extra of an extra night holiday in a lovely hotel! Would we use Holiday Extras again? Of course we would!

We use Holiday Extras every time we need to travel from an airport. Their parking prices are always good and the fact you can book a hotel at the same time, makes Holiday Extras invaluable.
This time we were going to Thailand and our flight was in the evening. This meant that we could drive down to Heathrow at our leisure in plenty of time to get our car parked.by Purple Parking Meet & Greet. No hassle, no driving around looking for random car parks miles off-airport. It was as simple as driving straight to Terminal 2 car park, handing over the keys and walking in to the terminal to check-in. So easy.
We'd booked a hotel for when we got back as neither of us wanted to drive after a 12 hour flight from a country 7 hours ahead of The UK. Obviously we were going to be jet-lagged and nobody wants to risk driving in the dark when they're tired. We'd booked the Hilton Garden Inn which was literally on-site at Heathrow. All we had to do was walk through a covered walkway, check in and within minutes we were in our clean, contemporary and incredibly quiet room ready to get our heads down for the night.
After a great night's sleep, the next morning we phoned Purple Parking and said we'd be there in 10 minutes and our car was waiting for us to drive back home. A great holiday made all the more simple and seamless by the great service we received from Holiday Extras.
Honestly things couldn't have gone better for us and it's pretty much a no-brainer for us to book with Holiday Extras now.
We were very much looking forward to spending New Year's Eve in Krakow. What we weren’t looking forward to however, was the long drive up to the airport for our early morning flight. To cushion the blow a little, we decided to spend the night before in the Hampton by Hilton at Gatwick airport and also used the airport parking service. We booked the whole deal through Holiday Extras and were incredibly impressed by the prices of the various packages.
Once we’d arrived at the Purple Parking, it was a quick and easy process and within 5 minutes we were on a shuttle bus heading to the airport. From the terminal, it was apparently “easy” to find the hotel - “just follow the signs” the instructions said. We did follow the signs however we wound up going in circles and staring down at the hotel from an outside balcony but not being able to get in.
Alls well that ends well and we eventually got in (easy once you find it!), checked in and were in our room before long. The room was nice - big windows, decent bathroom and a comfy bed. We headed down to the bar and had a couple of drinks - the bar staff were really friendly and happy to help. Hungry but with limited options, we decided to get a few snacks to keep us going. The bar food was really good, albeit expensive, but I suppose that’s expected at a airport hotel bar.
The next morning we were up nice and early ready for our flight. We headed down to check out and have a quick breakfast. The breakfast was average - there wasn’t as many options as I would’ve liked. Eg. no fried eggs! You can’t have a fry up without fried eggs! However, it did the trick and fuelled us up. The best thing about the hotel was that it was literally a 30 second walk into the airport itself - you didn’t even have to go outside!
For an airport hotel, this was really good and we’d definitely recommend staying. We were able to make our flight at a leisurely pace, feeling refreshed and relaxed. We'll most definitely be using Holiday Extras again. They take all the stress and worry about getting to the airport on time and you end up with an extra day's holiday too. Brilliant!
