If you’re over 50, then you might be thinking about retiring …
Retirement is a time that many of us look forward to. It’s a stage in life that gives us back some free time to pursue activities we just couldn’t find the time for before. For others however, this may be daunting, leaving them feeling vulnerable during this new stage of life. While we all inevitably grow, and change in different ways, when we finally do have more time for ourselves, it can be hard to remember what makes us, us. When was the last time I felt at my best? And how do I get back that sense of self?
Feel Fabulous Over 50, 60, 70, 80 …
Here are some of my top tips for how to take care of every part of you, to make sure you stay feeling fabulous over fifty, sixty, seventy and older…
1) Pamper Yourself
At any age, our skin needs all the love we can give it, and retirement is the perfect time to look after yourself, inside and out! So, my first tip is to never underestimate the importance of a little pamper. A gentle facial wash every morning and night is essential, as is moisturising regularly. And don’t forget to leave yourself some time for a face mask, soak in the bath, or whatever leaves your skin feeling fabulous.
2) Embrace New Things
If you’ve gone through life scared to try new things, now is the time to give them a go! Perhaps you always felt uncomfortable wearing a particular lip colour or hairstyle, or wondered whether a dance class could be up your street? Embrace the opportunities and freedom that retirement brings. You never know, you might discover something inside yourself that you never noticed before.
3) More Time for your Health
If you’re working full time, it’s hard to find time in the day for yourself, between the commuting, time at work or even care duties at home. Retirement gives you time to focus on your own health and wellbeing, whether that’s eating better, being more active, or even just sleeping more! This is the time to really let yourself relax and make time for all those things that fall by the wayside during our working years – when they really shouldn’t.
4) Do What you Love
Spending time doing the things you love most – nothing could be more fabulous! Although retirement is a chance to kick back and relax, it’s also the time that many people revisit much loved hobbies of the past or even discover new ones.
Taking care of your mind as well as your body is essential no matter what age you are. Retirement will give you the time to really hone in on the things that benefit you most.
Whether it’s a spot of yoga, a country walk, or curling up with a good book, feeling fabulous over 50 means making time for yourself. We all need a bit of Me-Time !
