Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying out the Green People Age Defy+ range and I’ve got to say I’m pretty impressed.
I’ve been a fan of Green People since my days working on a parenting website. Most mums are very careful about what they put on their babies’ skin and this is in fact how the Green People company came about in 1994. Charlotte Vohtz, the founder wanted to find natural skincare products for her new baby daughter’s various skin problems. She looked for natural skincare products everywhere but discovered that companies could legitimately call their products ‘natural’ even if they had only 1% of natural or organic ingredients.
To quote Charlotte’s words: “From that moment, I realised that we all are children of the chemical age and that man-made chemicals found everywhere, combined with changing dietary habits, profoundly affect us all”.
So what did she do? Yup she went out and made them herself!
I’ve used Green People products in the past. I adore their Body Butter and their Rescue Balm is brilliant stuff. Their Sun Lotions are also excellent if you find your skin reacts to other products on the market . I like the Green People’s Day Solution Moisturiser but up until a few days back had never tried the range aimed at my age group, the Age Defy+. A lot of the moisturisers targeting older women are often too heavy for my skin. Although drier than it was in my youth, my skin is still ‘combination’ to a certain extent.
Green People Age Defy+
The Green People Age Defy+ range turned out to be perfect for my skin!
- No reaction to any of the ingredients.
- Feels light when you apply.
- Sinks in easily
- You can apply make-up almost straight after you’ve put it on.
The blurb on Green People’s site boldly declares:
“Age Defy+ by Green People combines the miracle of nature with the brilliance of science for maximum performance. This unique skincare regime for women aged 35+ is rich in powerful youth boosting botanicals and scientifically tested active ingredients to target wrinkles, age spots and cell breakdown. Working in synergy to defy the turning of time, letting you live your life with no limits.”
So it’s got a lot to live up to. I’ve got to say that I take most of these claims in beauty adverts with a pinch of salt. Nonetheless, knowing Charlotte’s back-story does encourage me to have more faith in Green People’s claims than the likes of the big international conglomerates out there.
I tried the products below and am so far really happy with them.
Green People Natural Skincare
Soft Buff Skin Exfoliator 30ml £22.00
This is a lovely gentle face exfoliator. Like all exfoliators, it takes off the old skin cells on the surface which naturally freshens up your appearance. My skin has seemed smoother and softer since I started using it. Apparently it speeds up cell renewal too which means the other anti-ageing products you use have a better chance of working
24 Hour Brightening Moisturiser 30ml £36.00
Now this product definitely brightened up my skin. I don’t know how much of the brightening/illuminating effect came from using the brightening moisturiser after the skin exfoliator. I really can’t say. However, I like the effect. I have a lot of freckles which have kind of morphed into ‘age spots’ since I hit my 50s. I feel that when I’m wearing this moisturiser that it has a blurring effect. It certainly doesn’t cure hyperpigmentation but it does something to make it look less obvious.
Perhaps after I’ve used it for a couple of months, I’ll see a more permanent difference. Who knows?! Green people say ‘this revolutionary organic product also actively reduces skin pigmentation and age spots when used daily.’ We’ll see.
Tinted DD Moisturiser SPF15 30ml £36.00
I have the tinted moisturiser in the ‘light’ shade which suits me perfectly. It comes in ivory and medium too and they all have SPF15 which is reassuring. It gives a sheer glowy sort of coverage which I like as I hate looking as if I’m wearing foundation. It’s made with colour correcting natural earth minerals so it evens out redness, which I particularly like. The Sea Fennel plant is the magic anti-ageing ingredient which sets this Tinted Moisturiser apart from its competition. Who knew! The only thing I don’t like is the texture to be honest as I feel it drags a little bit on the skin when you’re applying it.
So, in a nutshell, would I buy the Green People Age Defy+ natural skincare products again? Yes, of course. Keen to try the Orange Blossom range next too. It sounds gorgeous!
